The historic town of Loreto, where the Jesuit missionary Juan Maria de Salvatierra founded the first mission of the California’s, Nuestra Señora de Loreto. The area surrounding Loreto is filled with beautiful sites, among them the San Javier Mission, which is tucked away in the Gigantic Sierra. Opposite Loreto Bay are the islands of Coronado, Carmen, Danzantes and Catalana.
