It is with great honor that we, the Government of Baja California Sur, cordially welcome you, our guest, to our home. Through this magazine, the 2006 Tourist Guide, we would like to take this opportunity to show you just a few of the amazing wonders of our land. Although our state is one of the youngest in the country, it has an important historic and cultural legacy. In addition, by way of spectacular landscapes, the region boasts an endless natural richness.

The incomparable beauty of our land and the overflowing hospitality of Baja California Sur’s inhabitants are our most valuable tourist attractions. In addition, the Government of Baja California Sur is working together with investors in order to enhance both the economic and social development os our region, thereby making it one of the most promising areas of the country.

As you can see throughout this publication, our state boasts an abundance of natural wonders and a variety of Protected Natural Areas, which are legacies for humanity. However, at the same time, Baja California Sur is embracing its urbanization. Through constant development, our state is growing quickly with the dynamic expansion of a world-class and modern tourist infrastructure. Our Administration has kept a close eye on the tourism sector and we will continue to do so. Our goal is to protect the environment as well as conserve our beaches, monuments, historic vestiges, parks and natural reserves. We know that they are important legacies for the state’s inhabitants and their children.
